Chef de Partie

A Chef de Partie is a team leader in the kitchen. This job requires leadership skills and strong cooking ability. You are the leader of a section of the kitchen and all that occurs on the section is your responsibility.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team. As a Chef de Partie, you will be responsible for leading a section of our kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety. This role requires strong leadership skills and a passion for cooking, as you will be overseeing junior chefs and ensuring that every dish served meets our customers’ expectations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a designated section of the kitchen, taking full responsibility for all aspects, including cleanliness, mise en place, and staff coordination.
  • Ensure the preparation and presentation of dishes meet the required standards and that all recipes are followed accurately.
  • Manage daily prep lists and communicate with the Sous Chef to ensure all orders are completed on time.
  • Coordinate with kitchenhands to properly stow deliveries, check orders, and ensure everything is accounted for.
  • Maintain hygiene and cleanliness standards within your section, proactively addressing any health and safety concerns.
  • Supervise junior staff and provide training to new team members, fostering a proactive and supportive kitchen environment.
  • Monitor and control food costs, ensuring profitability while maintaining high quality.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or near misses, and ensure compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures.


What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar role within a busy kitchen environment.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to manage a kitchen section independently.
  • Excellent cooking skills with a focus on consistency and quality.
  • A proactive approach to health and safety, cleanliness, and hygiene in the kitchen.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain high standards during busy service periods.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams.
