Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve, located at the gateway to the stunning Abel Tasman National Park, is offering an exciting opportunity for a skilled Grounds and Maintenance professional to join our team for the summer season. This highly sought-after position allows you to work in one of New Zealand’s most picturesque outdoor destinations.

About the Role:

As part of our Facilities and Environment team, you will be responsible for the hands-on maintenance of the Reserve’s buildings, assets, and machinery, ensuring everything is in top condition for our guests. You will also maintain the grounds, gardens, and beach areas, ensuring they remain safe, clean, and inviting. Your role will include operating machinery, including forklifts, and maneuvering trailers and caravans into tight spots within the campground.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General maintenance of buildings, equipment, and machinery across the Reserve.
  • Regular checks and compliance of all machinery, assets, and electrical appliances.
  • Upkeep of grounds, gardens, and landscapes, including waste and recycling collection.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of beach areas, boat ramps, and other public spaces.
  • Operating a forklift and backing trailers and caravans into tight positions.


What We’re Looking For:

  • A valid forklift licence with demonstrable experience in forklift operation.
  • Proficiency in backing trailers and caravans into confined spaces.
  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance, building maintenance, or a similar role.
  • Strong attention to detail, a proactive work ethic, and the ability to work independently.
  • A strong commitment to health and safety practices.


Position Details:

  • Fixed-term position from mid-December 2024 to the start of February 2025.
  • 32 hours per week, working 4 days a week, including weekends and public holidays.
